Bajs bike-sharing system faces technical failures in Zagreb

Users of the Bajs public bike-sharing system in Zagreb have reported widespread technical failures. According to reports, users are unable to unlock bicycles via the application, even after attempting to move the vehicles or manually trigger the lock. This issue has prevented users from starting rides and, more critically, has made it difficult to end rides, potentially leading to unintended charges after the initial 30-minute free period. Customer support has characterized the issue as a global problem, stating that bikes cannot be picked up anywhere in the world.

These technical difficulties follow a period of record-breaking usage for the service. During a recent three-day public transport strike in Zagreb, Bajs usage surged, with a daily record of 28,037 rides recorded on Tuesday, September 29. This represented a 111 percent increase compared to the previous week. The system also saw a significant influx of new users, adding over 11,000 registrations to a total of 161,888.
