Bakana hotel boat catches fire on the Paraguay River

A significant fire broke out on the Bakana hotel boat, a vessel used for tourism and fishing, while it was navigating the Paraguay River. The incident occurred in the area between Puerto Guaraní and Fuerte Olimpo in the Alto Paraguay Department.

Preliminary reports indicate that the vessel was conducting a fishing excursion with tourists on board when the emergency began. The crew, including guides and cooks, along with the passengers, managed to evacuate the ship in time. No fatalities or serious injuries have been reported thus far, as the rapid response of those on board helped prevent a larger tragedy.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, the blaze caused substantial material damage to the boat's structure. Another vessel assisted in fighting the fire and rescuing the occupants. Authorities are expected to conduct investigations to determine the origin of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
