Başkent University students develop AI patent drafting tool

Computer engineering students from Başkent University in Ankara have developed an artificial intelligence-powered program designed to automate and assist in the patent drafting process. Developed in collaboration with Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ), the 'AI-Supported Automated Patent Drafting Program' analyzes engineering information within technical reports to suggest definitions and text suitable for patent applications.

The system utilizes large language models to convert technical data into consistent, systematic patent language. By leveraging patent data and technical content provided by TUSAŞ, the tool aims to streamline the complex and time-consuming process of gathering, verifying, and organizing scattered documentation into a formal patent format. The developers emphasize that the system is designed as an assistive tool that maintains human oversight at its core.
