Baker Mayfield signs contract extension with Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has signed a contract extension following offseason negotiations. The deal is structured as a three-year, $165 million extension, though total payouts through 2029 can reach approximately $205 million when accounting for previously earned money.

Under the terms of the agreement, Mayfield will receive a $10 million roster bonus and $10 million base salary in 2026. The contract includes significant guarantees, with $70 million fully guaranteed at signing and additional amounts vesting in 2027 and 2028. By 2029, his base salary is set at $52.5 million.

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles expressed satisfaction with the agreement, noting Mayfield’s professionalism and his importance to the team. Mayfield enters his fourth season with the Buccaneers after a successful 2023 campaign that included an NFC South title.
