Baker Mayfield signs three-year extension with Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has signed a three-year contract extension worth $55 million per year, keeping him under contract through 2029. The deal provides long-term stability for the franchise at the quarterback position.

Mayfield expressed that while the contract is “life-changing money,” his primary focus remains on achieving a Super Bowl victory and improving team consistency. He noted a desire to lead the team through full seasons without the lulls experienced in previous years. Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles stated that he does not expect the financial windfall to alter Mayfield’s preparation or professional standards.

The extension marks a significant milestone in Mayfield’s career, which began as the No. 1 overall pick for the Cleveland Browns in 2018. After leading the Browns to their first playoff appearance since 2002, Mayfield eventually transitioned to the Buccaneers, where he has now secured his status as a franchise quarterback.
