Bakhtiyarpur shop fire kills three in Bihar

A devastating fire broke out at a hardware and auto parts shop in the Old Bypass area of Bakhtiyarpur, located in the Patna district of Bihar, resulting in three deaths and three injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Geeta Devi (50), Reema Devi (30), and a five-month-old infant. The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of combustible materials, including mobile phones and other flammable stock within the premises.

Local reports suggest the blaze may have originated during a ‘Shiv-Charcha’ religious gathering, specifically during a ‘havan’ ritual fire ceremony. While rescue teams and local authorities managed to evacuate several individuals, three victims were declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Abhishek Srivastava confirmed that law enforcement and fire units worked to douse the flames, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
