Bakiga Nation marks 10‑year Rukundo Egumeho festival in Uganda with Pilsner Lager partnership

The Rukundo Egumeho cultural festival celebrated its 10th anniversary on Sunday at the Millennium Grounds in southwestern Uganda. Sponsored by beer brand Pilsner Lager, the event showcased a Kigezi Cultural Village with traditional drums, baskets and other heritage displays. Festival organiser Owen Bigombe highlighted the milestone, noting the festival’s growth from a modest community celebration in 2016 to a major gathering of the Bakiga Nation.

Pilsner Lager brand manager Lillian Kansiime said the partnership aims to honor authenticity, unity and heritage. Performances featured local troupes, DJ Cross, Alberto and various Kiga musicians. A grand raffle awarded a new car to Seezi Mugabe of Muhanga, Rukiga District, capping the day’s festivities.

The celebration underscored the role of cultural events in fostering community pride and connection, while reinforcing Pilsner Lager’s position as a connector of people and traditions.
