Baking soda promoted as simple, cheap solution for diverse home cleaning tasks

Baking soda is highlighted as an inexpensive, multi‑purpose cleaning agent for households. A thick paste made from three tablespoons of the powder and water can be applied to grout lines, stainless‑steel sinks, burnt pans, stovetop burners and glass shower doors, then scrubbed and rinsed to remove grime, grease and stains.

The same paste can be used on tiles and other surfaces to lift stubborn marks. For mattresses, a thin layer of dry baking soda is spread over the surface, left for four to eight hours to absorb odors and moisture, and then vacuumed away. Adding a few drops of essential oil, such as lavender, is suggested to leave a pleasant scent. Recommendations include using the powder only on dry surfaces and refreshing the treatment once or twice a month.
