Baking soda promoted for cleaning and garden use in Brazil

Baking soda is highlighted as a versatile household product in Brazil. When combined with neutral detergent, it effectively removes grease on stoves, countertops and cookware. Mixing it with vinegar, warm water or lemon provides odor control, surface cleaning and mild abrasive action, though the chemical reaction with vinegar is brief and lemon should be avoided on acid‑sensitive stones.

In gardening, small amounts of baking soda can raise soil pH and help suppress superficial fungal growth on leaves and stems. Experts advise applying it sparingly, monitoring plant response, and not substituting it for proper fertilisers or pest treatments.
