Bakir Izetbegović potentially considered for Bosnia and Herzegovina Council of Ministers chairmanship
Bakir Izetbegović, leader of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), is being discussed as a potential candidate for the chairmanship of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Under the principle of rotation, the position is expected to be held by a Bosniak representative in the upcoming term.
As the SDA emerged as a significant winner among Bosniak voters, the party is positioned as a key factor in forming the state-level government. The appointment could serve as recognition for Izetbegović’s role in the party's electoral success and as compensation for his recent loss in the race for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the Sarajevo Canton, political discussions continue regarding the formation of the new executive government. Vibor Handžić of Naša stranka stated that the election of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly leadership should not block the establishment of new authorities, despite differing legal interpretations regarding the procedure for appointing a mandate holder.
