Bakırköy hidden camera scandal reveals massive illicit content network

An investigation into a hidden camera scandal at a beauty center in Bakırköy, Istanbul, has revealed much larger scale operations than initially suspected. While the case began with reports of women being recorded during epilation procedures, new reports from the Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crimes Branch suggest a massive distribution network via Telegram.

According to investigation files, a Telegram channel used to sell these recordings advertised approximately 80,000 pieces of content organized into 20 different categories. These categories reportedly include various locations such as massage parlors, buses, and IPCAM feeds, indicating that the illicit recordings may extend far beyond the beauty center.

Authorities have already arrested the beauty center owner and individuals accused of installing the camera systems and selling the footage. The charges include violation of privacy, unlawful acquisition of personal data, and obscenity. Police previously seized several devices containing hidden camera mechanisms during searches at the business.
