Bakırköy, Istanbul brothers' gun‑fight leaves one wounded and suspect detained

A dispute between brothers Özkan K. and Hikmet K. in a Bakırköy apartment building escalated into a gunfight on the evening of June 8. Özkan fired three shots, striking his brother Hikmet, who was taken to a private hospital in Küçükçekmece by neighbor Tarık Ö. while a neighbor’s car was searched and an unlicensed, serial‑number‑scratched pistol was recovered.

Police detained Özkan K. on charges of illegal firearm possession and assault. The incident occurred around 18:00 on Atayurt Street in the Basınköy neighbourhood, and investigations are ongoing.
