Baku Court upholds sentences in husband's contract killing
The Baku Court of Appeals has upheld the convictions of Aziza Seyidova and three accomplices involved in the contract killing of her husband, Ali Seyidli. The ruling, delivered by Judge Zafar Ahmadov, maintains the sentences handed down by the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.
According to the court, Mehdi Mammadov received a sentence of 18 years and 6 months, while Bakhtiyar Farzaliyev and Elvin Aliyev were sentenced to 17 years and 6 months. Aziza Seyidova was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
The incident occurred on March 15, 2023, in the Mashtaga settlement of the Sabunchu district. Prosecutors established that the 23-year-old Seyidova orchestrated the murder to punish her husband. She collaborated with Mammadov to plan the attack and monitor Seyidli’s movements. On the night of the crime, Mammadov and his associates intercepted Seyidli as he entered his home, killing him with 23 knife wounds.
