Baku hosts inaugural Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon

Baku is hosting its first Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon, marking the country's debut in the international franchise circuit. The event is expected to draw over 1,500 participants from 62 different countries.

The competition consists of three stages: a 1.9-kilometer swim in the Caspian Sea, a 90-kilometer cycling course through urban and suburban areas, and a 21.1-kilometer run along the Baku Boulevard waterfront. The race includes various age categories ranging from 18 to 84 years old, as well as relay teams.

In addition to the main event, organizers have scheduled 'IRONKIDS' races for children and a 'Fun Run' for adults. Top performers from this competition will earn qualification for the 2027 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in the United States.
