Baku launches extensive road repair across 110 streets

The Azerbaijan Automobile Roads State Agency has begun a large‑scale renovation program in the capital, Baku. The project covers roughly 110 streets and avenues across all 12 administrative districts, with more than 800,000 m² of road surface slated for renewal. About 20 streets have already been completed, while work on another ten is ongoing and the remaining sections will be tackled in phases.

The timing coincides with the summer vacation period, when school closures and many citizens are on leave, reducing traffic congestion and allowing the repairs to proceed with minimal disruption. Officials say the upgrades aim to bring the road network up to modern standards, enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians, and improve daily commuting for residents.
