Baku marks 108th anniversary of liberation by Caucasus Islamic Army

Commemorations are being held to mark the 108th anniversary of the liberation of Baku by the Caucasus Islamic Army. The historical event dates back to September 15, 1918, when the army liberated the city from Armenian and Bolshevik forces following a 30-hour battle.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a message emphasizing the historical and strong bonds between Turkey and Azerbaijan, noting that the liberation of Baku is a significant milestone in Azerbaijan's struggle for independence and national will. He extended his well wishes to the Azerbaijani people, highlighting the shared history, culture, and solidarity between the two nations.

A ceremony was held at the Turkish Martyrs' Memorial in Baku, attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Baku, Birol Akgün, representatives from the TRNC, and various diplomats and business leaders. During the event, Ambassador Akgün laid a wreath at the memorial and visited the Martyrs' Cemetery to honor those who lost their lives during the liberation efforts.
