Baku petroleum terminal fire extinguished after explosion

A large fire at a petroleum terminal in the Khata district of Baku, Azerbaijan, has been fully extinguished. The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 9 on Orkhan Ismayilov Street when a fuel reservoir caught fire, reportedly following an initial explosion.

The State Fire Protection Service was able to localize the flames quickly, preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring facilities and storage tanks within the strategic terminal. Local authorities cordoned off the area to allow emergency teams access to the site.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the TABIB medical association, no fatalities or injuries were reported. Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion in the tank.
