Baku restaurant brawl leads to murder investigation and 13 arrests
Thirteen individuals have been held criminally liable following a violent incident at the ‘Ab-Hava’ restaurant in the Khatai district of Baku on October 23. The confrontation, which reportedly stemmed from a debt dispute between Jalal Mirayayev (known as ‘Ceyhun Sabuncu’) and Emin Rahimov, escalated into a physical fight.
During the altercation, Mirayayev was fatally stabbed by Rahimov and his associate, Elmar Jafarov, after a physical exchange. In addition to the murder investigation, authorities have opened criminal cases involving the creation of a criminal group and the illegal circulation of large quantities of narcotics by an organized gang.
As of recent updates, five of the suspects have been placed under arrest for a period of four months. Legal experts note that while pretrial detention has been ordered, final guilt regarding premeditated murder or group participation will be determined through the court's final verdict.
