Baku to Host U-17 World Wrestling Championship with New Medal Design

The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation announced that the U‑17 World Wrestling Championship will be held in Baku from 27 July to 2 August at the National Gymnastics Arena. A total of 120 medals have been produced, each 10 cm in diameter and featuring Azerbaijani carpet patterns that showcase the country’s cultural heritage. The medals will be awarded in three categories: 30 gold, 30 silver and 60 bronze. The event is sponsored by the sports brand Slavyanka, which will serve as the championship’s patron. More than 60 nations are expected to send nearly 700 junior wrestlers to compete.

The distinctive medal design and the involvement of Slavyanka highlight Azerbaijan’s effort to promote its cultural identity and sporting infrastructure on the international stage.
