Azerbaijan is hosting several major sporting events and competitions. In football, the Azerbaijan Premier League continues with Turan Tovuz securing a 1-0 victory over Qəbələ in the first round. The second round features upcoming matches including Qəbələ against Şəfa and Zirə against İmişli.

In combat and individual sports, Baku is set to host the XII World Qazaq Kuresi Championship for adults on August 22-23, 2026, featuring athletes across 16 weight categories. Additionally, Azerbaijani teenage judokas have been assigned their initial opponents for the upcoming World Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

National gymnastics competitions were also recently concluded at the Yardımlı Olympic Sports Complex, covering both acrobatics and aerobics championships across various age categories.
