Balaghat tribal regions face health crisis as seven children die from seasonal diseases

A surge in seasonal diseases has caused a health crisis in the Baiga tribal regions of Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. Within a 25-day period, seven children between the ages of 4 and 10 have died due to various infections.

Approximately 45 children are currently hospitalized at the district hospital, suffering from malaria, diarrhea, typhoid, pneumonia, and skin infections. The outbreak is particularly concentrated in villages within the Birsa area, including Korka, Bondari, Kundeksa, and Adori.

In response to the rising mortality and infection rates, the health department has deployed medical teams to remote villages for screening, testing, and treatment. Teams from the Medical College Jabalpur and ICMR Jabalpur have also visited the affected areas to assess the situation and advise residents on hygiene and sanitation practices to prevent further spread.
