Balan Mountain search launched for missing man İsa Çifçi
A large-scale search operation is being launched on Balan Mountain in the Marmaris district to locate İsa Çifçi, who has been missing since December 30, 2023. Çifçi, who was 65 at the time of his disappearance, vanished while gathering mushrooms with relatives.
Following a request from the family, the Marmaris District Governorate has ordered the operation, which will be coordinated by AFAD. The search will involve various teams, including the Marmaris District Gendarmerie Command, the Marmaris Forestry Directorate, national park officials, local hunters, and non-governmental organizations.
While the family prepares to seek a legal declaration of disappearance, Çifçi’s siblings have filed a complaint requesting an investigation into potential criminal activity. Consequently, the case has been transferred from the missing persons unit to homicide bureau teams.
