Balangir man arrested for suspected human sacrifice and beheading
Police in the Balangir district of Odisha have arrested Shatrughna Sahu in connection with the suspected human sacrifice of 45-year-old Santosh Kharsel. The victim's headless body was discovered floating in a pond on August 20, after he had been missing since August 18.
Investigators believe Sahu lured Kharsel to his home under the pretense of sharing a meal. While Sahu initially claimed the killing resulted from an argument over alcohol, he later allegedly confessed that the murder was part of a tantric ritual intended to win back his estranged wife, who has lived separately for ten years.
Authorities recovered the victim's severed head from Sahu's puja room. Some reports indicate that Sahu may have acted alongside four associates to carry out the assault. A bloodstained weapon has been seized, and a detailed investigation is ongoing to determine if other individuals were involved.
