Balangir Police recover 5 kg of gold following armed robbery

Balangir Police have made a breakthrough in an armed robbery investigation by tracing suspects to the Rayagada district in Odisha. The operation follows a heist on August 23, where assailants broke into the residence of jeweller Phulchand Jain, held his mother at gunpoint, and stole approximately ₹1 crore worth of gold jewellery and cash.

Following the formation of a special task force, police detained two suspects in Kharajoda village and conducted searches that led to the seizure of 5 kg of gold and silver ornaments. Authorities are currently investigating whether the recovered items are linked to the Jain robbery and a separate recent theft at a local temple. Police suspect the involvement of an inter-state or multi-district robbery network.
