Fatal fires reported in Bronx apartment building and Cerrillos residence
Multiple fatal incidents involving fires were reported in the Bronx and Cerrillos.
In the Bronx, New York, a two-alarm fire broke out in a six-story apartment building on Montgomery Avenue in the Morris Heights neighborhood. The blaze, which originated on the fourth floor, spread to adjacent units and the space between the ceiling and the roof. One victim, a 31-year-old man, reportedly jumped from a window to escape the flames and remains in critical condition.
In Cerrillos, Chile, a residential building fire on Monseñor José Campillo street resulted in two deaths. One person died at the scene, while a second victim passed away during resuscitation efforts due to airway burns. The fire completely destroyed two apartments and partially damaged a third. Local authorities, including the Maipú Fire Department and Carabineros, responded to the scene to manage the fire and address disturbances among neighbors during the emergency.
