Balcarce officials to meet regarding Estudiantina suspension

Gabriel Petruccelli, a councilman from Potencia Buenos Aires, is scheduled to meet with Juana Benítez, the district head of Education in Balcarce, next week to discuss the suspension of the Estudiantina festival for the 2026 and 2027 editions.

The suspension was implemented following incidents of violence during recent festivities. Petruccelli has requested the urgent meeting to understand the grounds for the decision and to propose alternatives that would allow the traditional student event to continue.

While acknowledging the severity of the violence, Petruccelli emphasized the importance of the Estudiantina as a space for integration and companionship among students. He suggested implementing new security and coexistence strategies through collaborative work involving educational authorities, students, families, the Municipality, and security agencies.
