Czech caves open for summer on June 26, adding extended hours and family tickets
Thirteen caves across the Czech Republic began their summer season on Friday, 26 June. The Správa jeskyní ČR introduced discounted family tickets for households with two or three children and expanded programmes, including evening candlelit tours at Na Turoldu (Mikulov) on Mondays at 19:00, flashlight tours at Na Špičáku (Jeseník) on Wednesdays at 15:00, and archaeological themed visits at Kateřinská on the last Sunday of each month. Balcarka cave extended its closing time to 16:30. The Na Pomezí cave remains closed for electrical‑system reconstruction.
The Police of the Czech Republic issued safety reminders as the summer holidays start, urging drivers to observe traffic rules amid higher road volumes, to stay hydrated, rest when fatigued, and to carry mandatory equipment when travelling abroad. Cyclists and motorcyclists were advised to wear helmets and avoid alcohol. Parents were cautioned to keep constant supervision of children near water and to secure belongings in vehicles and homes.
The Military Health Insurance announced a travel‑insurance partnership with AXA Assistance, offering a 50 % discount and coverage limits up to 500 million CZK, with optional post‑return health assistance. The insurer stressed the limits of the European Health Insurance Card and recommended travellers verify its validity and purchase suitable travel cover.
