Balcarka Cave to host School of Little Speleologists

Balcarka Cave in Ostrov u Macochy, located within the Moravian Karst, is hosting a ‘School of Little Speleologists’ for children aged five and older and their parents. Due to high interest, two dates have been scheduled for 2026: Saturday, September 26, and Saturday, October 10.

The interactive tours will run from 9:00 to 16:00, allowing participants to undergo training and earn a ‘little speleologist certificate’. Advance telephone reservations are required for interested parties.

Historically, the cave was discovered in 1924 by Josef Šamalík and opened to the public in 1925. The site contains significant archaeological findings from the Paleolithic period and features various geological formations such as the Wilson Rotundas and Foch's Dome.
