Wildfire suppression efforts continue across the B.C.-Washington border and in the south Okanagan. The Border 2 Fire, also known as the Hozomeen Mountain Wildfire, is considered out of control. This smouldering ground fire has burned an estimated 8,361.59 hectares, with 5,409 hectares in Canada and 2,952.59 hectares in the United States. Firefighting agencies, including the BC Wildfire Service, US Forest Service, and North Cascades National Park Service, are working together to contain the blaze near Ross Lake.

In the south Okanagan, the Bald Range wildfire has grown to an estimated 24,096 hectares. While the immediate threat to Summerland has subsided, allowing many residents to return home, evacuation orders and alerts remain in place for surrounding rural areas. Approximately 20,000 people were previously evacuated, and about 150 structures were destroyed during the fire's surge on August 7. Crews are currently working to restore utility and telecommunications services while managing ongoing risks such as danger trees and rockfall.

Suppression at Bald Range has been complicated by difficult terrain and stubborn fire behavior in the southern and western flanks, exacerbated by hot and dry conditions. Officials expect fire activity to remain visible due to northwesterly winds and smouldering ground fire.
