Baldissero d’Alba shooting: homeowner under investigation after fatal encounter

A 35-year-old man, Roberto Mollo, is under investigation for homicide following a fatal shooting in Baldissero d’Alba, Cuneo province. The incident occurred in the early hours of a Sunday at a farmhouse undergoing renovation.

Mollo reported hearing suspicious noises in the courtyard and, believing a group of 4 to 5 individuals was attempting to steal construction materials, used a legally owned semi-automatic pistol to fire into the darkness. One man, identified as 36-year-old Gjovalin Lazri, a resident of Turin with a criminal record for property crimes, was struck and died at the scene despite medical intervention.

The other members of the group managed to flee the area. Authorities, including the Carabinieri and the Asti Prosecutor's Office, are working to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the event, including the number of shots fired and the distance between the parties. Investigators are also verifying the legality of the weapon's possession in relation to Mollo's recent change of residence. While some political figures have expressed support for the right to self-defense, the investigation remains focused on determining whether the use of force was justified.
