Baldissero d’Alba shooting investigation focuses on self-defense claim
An investigation is underway in Baldissero d’Alba, Italy, following a fatal shooting involving Roberto Mollo, a 35-year-old truck driver. Mollo is suspected of voluntary homicide after firing approximately 13 shots from a 9mm Beretta at a group of intruders at his farmhouse.
The victim, 36-year-old Gjovalin Lazri, was found 30 to 40 meters from the building. Lazri sustained fatal wounds to the neck and shoulder. Investigators are focusing on whether the shooting constitutes legitimate self-defense or if the shots were fired at fleeing suspects. A key factor will be the distance and trajectory of the bullets, which autopsy and ballistic reports aim to clarify.
Mollo reportedly called emergency services shortly after the incident, stating, “I had thieves in the house, and I defended myself. I was afraid.” While the defense argues he acted in a state of panic, investigators are examining whether he targeted the group despite them being visible via their flashlights. The other members of the group managed to flee the scene.
