Balearic Islands host premieres for historical and sports documentaries

Two new cultural productions have premiered in the Balearic Islands, focusing on regional history and sports heritage.

IB3 has presented the historical documentary ‘Un regne dins la mar’ (A Kingdom Within the Sea), which explores the history of the Crown of Mallorca and the reign of James II (1276–1311). The production examines the birth and splendor of the Crown, political models based on economic liberties, and architectural heritage such as the Almudaina and Bellver Castle. The documentary uses Sança Foix as a narrative guide to connect historical events with the present.

Additionally, the Balearic Islands Football Federation (FFIB) held the premiere of ‘Únics’, a film celebrating the federation's centenary. Directed by Elisabeth Molly, the film aims to move beyond a conventional historical documentary format to tell the story of a century of football in the islands through emotional narratives and anecdotes, highlighting how the sport has contributed to the local identity.
