Balearic Islands launches emergency training for 36,000 students
The Balearic Islands government has launched ‘Educació X Emergències’, a new safety and civil protection training program designed for the 2026-2027 academic year. The initiative aims to foster a culture of prevention and preparedness within the educational community regarding various emergencies, including flash floods, forest fires, adverse weather phenomena, and technological risks such as industrial or chemical accidents.
The program is set to reach over 36,000 students across the islands, specifically targeting students in the final years of early childhood education, primary school, and secondary education (ESO). The distribution includes approximately 29,072 students in Mallorca, 4,142 in Ibiza, 2,763 in Menorca, and 267 in Formentera.
Training will be delivered by security and emergency services personnel alongside teachers who have completed specialized training via the Ministry of Education's platform. To date, 907 teachers and 209 emergency professionals have already registered for the training. Participating schools will receive an accreditation seal, and teachers can earn specific diplomas recognized by the regional government.
