Balearic Islands PP advances agricultural law despite Vox opposition

The People's Party (PP) in the Balearic Islands is moving forward with an agricultural law despite stalled negotiations with Vox. The project is expected to be approved by the Government Council in the second half of September.

A key and controversial aspect of the proposed law is the expansion of tourist accommodations on professional agricultural holdings. Under the draft, such farms could host up to 10 visitors and expand existing buildings by up to 20% for leisure activities. To qualify, farms must have been registered for at least four years and present tourism as a formal complementary activity.

Support from Vox is considered crucial for the law's passage, but negotiations have reached a standstill. Vox has expressed concerns regarding certain points and previously suggested that regulations for agro-tourism should be handled through general tourism legislation rather than an agricultural law.
