Balearic Islands reports over 418,000 missed medical appointments

In the Balearic Islands, IB-Salut has reported that 418,623 people failed to attend their medical appointments without canceling them so far in 2026. This represents 6.7 percent of the 6,247,241 total scheduled visits through August.

Primary Care accounts for more than half of these absences, with 334,179 missed appointments out of 5,370,361 scheduled, a rate of 6 percent. Hospital care and outpatient consultations saw a higher percentage of no-shows at 9.6 percent, involving 84,444 people out of 876,880 scheduled appointments.

IB-Salut noted that failing to cancel appointments in advance results in a loss of service efficiency. These vacant slots could otherwise be utilized by patients currently on waiting lists.
