Balearic Islands: School reopening and new labor agreements

The start of the new academic and labor season in the Balearic Islands is marked by several social and administrative developments. In Menorca, the Plataforma Menorca organized a march from the Insular Council to the Territorial Delegation of Education to highlight ongoing difficulties regarding childcare and family organization.

In the healthcare sector, medical professionals have called for a new strike, renewing demands for improved guard shifts and a specific professional statute. This movement comes amid concerns regarding specialist waiting lists and surgical delays.

Additionally, labor unions have reached an agreement to update the residency supplement for public administration personnel in the Balearic Islands. This adjustment, intended to address the high cost of living and the challenges of insularity, will result in monthly salary increases ranging from 195 to 570 euros for officials in the smaller islands, such as Menorca.
