Balearic Islands students depart for Canada on excellence scholarships

A group of 24 students from the Balearic Islands has departed for Canada to participate in an academic excellence scholarship program. The cohort includes 14 students from Mallorca, six from Ibiza, and four from Menorca.

The students will spend the first trimester of the 4th year of compulsory secondary education (ESO) studying in various Canadian provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Nova Scotia. The program, managed by the Regional Ministry of Education and Universities, has a total budget of 300,000 euros.

The scholarship covers all essential costs, including travel, logistics, enrollment, and full maintenance through Canadian host families, as well as complementary cultural and sporting activities. Catalina Ginart, the Director General of Educational Planning and Management, attended the airport to see the students off.
