Balearic Islands schools to resume classes following heavy rains

Educational activities in Mallorca, Ibiza, and Formentera are set to resume this Tuesday following a suspension caused by the 'Adam' weather system (DANA). The suspension, ordered by the Government of the Balearic Islands, was implemented on Monday to mitigate risks from heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

The extreme weather event caused significant disruptions, including flight delays, cancellations, and the activation of emergency plans. The Military Emergencies Unit (UME) has been deployed to assist with water removal and pumping operations in flooded streets, parking lots, and garages across the islands.

While the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has lowered the rain warning to yellow for Mallorca and the Pitiusas, emergency services continue to work toward restoring normalcy in the region.
