Frontex reported that the Algeria‑to‑Balearic Islands route was the fastest‑growing EU entry corridor from January to June 2024, even as total arrivals to Spain fell about 25 %. The agency also noted that traffickers have shifted operations from Morocco to Algeria and are using faster vessels.
