Balendra Shah Logs 384 Decisions, Shifts to Social Media

The Nepal government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah released a three‑month progress report covering mid‑April to mid‑July. It recorded 384 decisions taken in 21 cabinet meetings, eight cabinet‑committee meetings, and noted financial progress of 68.26 % on capital expenditure and 17.07 % on recurrent spending. The report also mentioned new rules, guidelines for zero‑pending files, and a task force to improve service delivery and curb corruption.

In a separate development, Shah addressed the nation on July 26 by posting a video on Facebook two minutes before it aired on Nepal Television, bypassing traditional press channels. The move highlights the Rastriya Swatantra Party‑led administration’s preference for social media despite many party members, including President Rabi Lamichhane, having media backgrounds, and raises questions about its engagement with the mainstream media sector.
