Bali authorities arrest Brazilian woman for smuggling 3.6 kg of liquid cocaine

Authorities in Bali have arrested a 36-year-old Brazilian woman, identified as TCDS, for attempting to smuggle approximately 3.6 kilograms of liquid cocaine into the island. The arrest occurred at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport following a joint operation by the Bali Regional Police and Customs officials.

The narcotics were discovered concealed within seven bottles disguised as personal care products and shampoo inside the suspect's luggage. Investigators stated that this represents one of the largest seizures of liquid cocaine in Bali's recent history.

The suspect reportedly claimed she was acting on behalf of an individual identified as G, who promised her a payment of 50,000 USD to complete the delivery. In addition to the promised fee, the suspect allegedly had her travel expenses from Brazil to Bali and her return flight fully covered.

Under Indonesia's strict narcotics laws, the suspect faces the possibility of a life sentence. Separately, in Batam, customs officials intercepted three other passengers attempting to transport approximately 490 grams of methamphetamine (shabu-shabu) on a domestic flight to Jakarta.
