Bali Governor evaluates nine years of traditional clothing policy
Bali Governor Wayan Koster has evaluated the nine-year implementation of the Balinese traditional clothing policy, established under Governor Regulation Number 79 of 2018. The policy mandates the use of traditional attire on specific days, including every Thursday, holy days such as Purnama and Tilem, and the anniversary of Bali Province.
Koster noted that the regulation has been widely accepted across various sectors, including government employees, hotels, restaurants, banks, shopping malls, and students. Beyond preserving cultural identity and strengthening local character, the policy has significantly boosted the local economy.
The mandate has stimulated a production chain that includes weavers, tailors, fashion designers, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and boutiques, contributing to the overall economic growth of the Balinese community.
