Bali hosts 2026 CMAS World Underwater Photo and Video Championship

The 2026 CMAS World Championship Underwater Photo and Video has officially commenced in Pemuteran Village, Buleleng, Bali. Organized by the Indonesian Underwater Sports Association (PB POSSI) under the World Underwater Federation (CMAS), the event features 78 athletes and eight team captains representing 19 different countries.

Participants will compete across ten distinct categories: seven for photography (Fish, Theme, Close-Up, Wide Angle without diver, Wide Angle with diver/model, Creative, and Smart Device) and three for video (Creative Movie, Theme Movie, and 60 Second Video). Competitions will take place at various underwater sites, including the Biorock area, Agung Prana Reef conservation zone, Napoleon Reef, and Bio Wreck.

Beyond the competition, the event aims to promote the tourism potential of Pemuteran and introduce participants to Balinese culture and local wisdom. The program also incorporates environmental initiatives, such as coral reef restoration and rehabilitation activities, to raise awareness regarding marine ecosystem preservation.
