Bali influencer faces prison for Rp71 billion fictitious social gathering scam
Bali-based influencer Joiss Nydia Khaliz faces up to six years in prison following allegations of running a fictitious online social gathering scheme (arisan). The fraud has reportedly resulted in losses totaling Rp71 billion.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly deceived hundreds of victims by promising significant profits through the online scheme. To build credibility, the suspect reportedly created fake member profiles to make the social gathering appear full and legitimate. Once victims transferred funds, the suspect would disappear without providing the promised returns. Authorities have arrested the suspect and seized evidence, including the social media accounts used to promote the scheme.
