Bali launches pilot project for 112 emergency number
The Indonesian government has designated Bali as the pilot province for the implementation of the '112' single emergency telephone service. This initiative, known as 'Indonesia Siaga 112', aims to integrate various emergency response services into a unified system. If successful, the program is intended for nationwide adoption within the next two years.
The service is designed to handle a wide range of emergencies, including fires, health crises, natural disasters, and public unrest. It will be accessible via regular telephone calls—both cellular and fixed-line—as well as through a specialized mobile application. The service is expected to be provided free of charge.
A cooperation agreement was signed involving the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), and the Bali Provincial Administration. The Ministry of Home Affairs noted that 112 is a global standard used in 127 countries. Komdigi will support the project by developing the necessary technical schemes and digital infrastructure to ensure connectivity across various government agencies and ministries.
