Bali Ministry of Law urges musicians to register copyrights
The Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law is encouraging local artists and musicians to register their copyrights to ensure legal certainty and strengthen the intellectual property-based music ecosystem. Head of the Bali Regional Office, Eem Nurmanah, emphasized that copyright registration is more than an administrative task; it provides essential proof of creation in an era of rapid digital distribution.
Nurmanah urged creators to protect their works proactively rather than waiting for them to become popular or for legal disputes to arise. To facilitate this, the government offers a zero-rupiah (free) rate for the copyright registration of songs and music, as regulated under Government Regulation Number 30 of 2026 regarding types and tariffs of non-tax state revenue for the Ministry of Law.
