Bali officials reassure tourists following Zika virus health advisory

The Bali Tourism Office has reassured international travelers that the island remains a safe and comfortable destination following a health advisory from the United States regarding the Zika virus.

Bali Provincial Health Office officials confirmed that no Zika virus infections have been reported or detected within the region to date. Despite the lack of local cases, authorities are urging tourists and industry stakeholders to remain vigilant against mosquito bites, noting that prevention measures for Zika are similar to those used for dengue fever due to the island’s tropical climate.

The advisory follows a Level 2 Travel Health Notice issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for Indonesia, specifically mentioning Bali. The CDC notice was prompted by reports of Zika cases among travelers returning from the area, advising precautions against mosquito bites and sexual transmission.
