Bali Transportation Agency to trial electric buses and increase transit budget
The Bali Transportation Agency (Dishub Bali) is preparing to trial 11 electric buses on the Trans Sarbagita Corridor I in October. The route will connect GOR Ngurah Rai, Udayana University, and Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK). These electric units will be provincial assets under the Trans Sarbagita blue bus service, funded through the Bali E-Mobility project with support from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the South Korean government.
Separately, the agency has proposed an operational budget of Rp58 billion for the Trans Metro Dewata (TMD) service for the 2027 fiscal year. This is an increase from the Rp56 billion allocated for 2026. The budget increase follows a rise in ridership, which has stabilized at over 5,000 passengers per day during peak months, serving commuters and tourists across the Sarbagita agglomeration area.
