Balkan authorities crack down on organized drug trafficking networks

Authorities in the Balkans are conducting operations against organized drug trafficking networks. In Montenegro, police in Pljevlja arrested a 39-year-old man, identified as E. S., for allegedly transporting approximately 20 kilograms of marijuana from Montenegro to Serbia. The drugs were found concealed in a specially constructed compartment under a vehicle seat. The arrest was carried out following a request for legal assistance from Serbian authorities regarding an incident dating back to February 2024.

In a separate development related to the “Amadeus” operation, a court in Bosnia and Herzegovina ordered one month of detention for Milutin Mići Danilović and Vladimir Grubačević. The suspects are accused of smuggling drugs through Montenegro and Albania into Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union. Danilović’s defense requested detention citing significant safety concerns, alleging he fears retaliation from rival criminal factions, specifically citing ties to the “Škaljar” clan and potential conflict with groups linked to the “Kavač” clan.
