Balkan region faces significant temperature drop and storms
A significant cold front is moving across the Balkan region, bringing a sharp decline in temperatures, increased wind speeds, and precipitation. In Croatia, the departure of a cyclone is being replaced by an anticyclone, bringing the Bura wind with potentially stormy gusts, particularly near Velebit. While some sunny intervals are expected, temperatures are set to drop significantly.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, meteorologists warn of very cold nights with temperatures potentially reaching zero, alongside risks of ground frost and fog in valleys. Heavy rainfall and strong winds have triggered yellow warnings in several areas. Similarly, in Bulgaria, a cold atmospheric front is expected to bring thunderstorms, heavy rain, and a notable temperature drop across the country.
Macedonia is also entering a much colder week, with daytime temperatures expected to fall below 15 degrees Celsius and the possibility of snow on mountains above 1,500 meters. In Montenegro, the weather will turn windy and colder, with a transition toward drier but chillier conditions. Overall, the region is transitioning from mild autumn weather to a much colder, more unstable period characterized by northern winds and periodic precipitation.
